Remote start is one of the features I love on my Chevy truck. Since it won't fit in the garage and the diesel takes so long to warm up the remote start comes in very handy in the winter. I don't really miss not having it on my F because the Lexus stays garaged with the door closed most all the time.

It's possible to do aftermarket remote start, just not using the Lexus native devices. No different than the automatic window roll up feature that exists everywhere but North America (because we're so happy to sue when something goes wrong.)

My buddy has an aftermarket one on his IS-F. Have to carry an extra fob around....small price to pay I guess. It sure comes in handy with the Canadian weather. Supposedly it was installed by Lexus, but not a Lexus product.

If I remember correctly, I remember someone with remote start on their F saying that they could start it with the remote start but once they got into the car, they had to turn it off and it turn it back on using the push start button. I don't know where I heard this but I definitely remember hearing it somewhere. Perhaps it was just the way it was installed but that would be kind of a pain in the a$$ to do that every time imo

Bigmike: I said that. Ha
My dealer offered the remote start as an option so it can be done. But again, I heard once you get in the car you have to shut it off then restart with the car key and brake. It didn't cost $2500, maybe closer to $600-800. Don't quote me though

I got this to work and so did an ISx50 owner With no extra key fob or anything required...
It works and does NOT shut off when you get in the car I have 45 seconds or so to get in the car with my keyfob. If I do not and hit the brake the car shuts off Trust me it works and I paid well under 600$ for parts and the install.
Living in Chicago I couldnt be happier with it
