Lost air box clip--what to do?
I was reading about a couple of people with AFE filters with missing air box clip(s).
I lost a clip too after putting in AFE however I don't have a broken tab and I can't be sure it wasn't the idiot tire installation guy that was messing with my air box for a courtesy check that might have screwed it up. I didn't notice any significant difference in effort closing the stock box after AFE. I guess I'll gorilla tape the second one down just to be sure.
For those of you with lost clips, what are you doing to compensate since you can't buy just the clip? Is this really an AFE issue or just a coincidence?

And what advantage does the AFE filter have over stock? Besides breaking the OEM airbox?

I honestly I don't think it is the filter though--nothing seemed to not fit properly--I'm pretty sure it was the tire shop courtesy check of the air box and not reselling it correctly after I told them that they didn't need to be under the hood to change the tires!

I was missing one as well but my car had the stock paper filter. It seems to be pretty common that these break if the techs aren't careful with them. The tab that holds the clip on my airbox was actually broken, so even if I had another clip it wouldn't hold.
I got extremely lucky checking ebay for over a year and one finally popped up for sale that I snagged for a very good price. That probably doesn't help, but for others with the same problem, I would imagine once RR racing is selling their tuned intake, more airboxes will show up for sale.

Or else I'll have to get their intake and tune.
Right now my airbox is missing both clips, with one tab completely broken.

125k miles, 8 years old, OEM filters and my airbox looks just like new. There's a note about this in my signature...
Few deliver the advertised claims. Many are actually worse than stock.

Update:
This is covered by the Platinum Extended warranty. Lexus will order you a whole air cleaner assembly at $804.
