Shopping for IS F
Hello Everyone,
Looking to buy used IS F 2008-2011 any advice for which year to look for?
Any reason to stay away from certain production years?
Also any big guys out there with their opinion as far as comfort and fit I'm 6'4" and 240lbs.
Tested 08 felt little snug but not bad overall.
Any input appreciated Thanks

I'd go with the 2011+ (I in fact did go with a 2011) because of the changes Lexus made.
As far as being 6'4", I can't comment on that. I can comment on being smaller in stature and it's still a difficult car to have passengers in and them be comfortable. I wasn't buying it for other people though...

You made a great choice with the IS-F. I recently purchased a 2012 and am impressed by the balance between luxury mode and beast mode. Can I ask what car you are coming from and why you chose an IS-F?

Get the newest year you can afford, each year Lexus fine tuned and updated the ISF little by little.
The biggest updates happened in 2011 which put the ISF on par if not better than the M3's as far as handling.
Keep in mind when I was shopping the price jump from 2010 to 2011 was quite a bit, but if you can swing it, definitely shoot for a 2011+
Better yet, aim for a 2012+ since they come with a wider track courtesy of some updated wheels and the switch to ZF/SACHS shocks. If you do go for a clean 2012+, expect to pay at least 40k.
2013 saw an update in the navigation (graphics looked uglier for some reason IMO) and some more tweaks to the suspension.
2014 saw a carbon fiber rear spoiler, don't know if they tweaked the suspension again or not...

Main reason why I narrowed my research down to IS F is the reliability and hopefully as much fun as the Caddy

2005 stock besides catback
I'm second owner nothing tragic but it's 10 years old and GM doesn't hold up as well as Toyota IMO
From service history
Diff replaced
Radiator 2x
Fuel pump
Break lines
47k miles as of today I don't think that the original owner abused it
It's just common problems for first generation V.
And don't want to wait around and see what else will go
Every time I go to stealership they come up with something
Just want a solid car that i can drive every day

Makes sense, I think you'll be happy with the F They are relatively maintenance free performance vehicles for the power you get from them, and like you said it's Toyota/Lexus reliability

I came from a D3 Audi S8 for the same reason. You won't be disappointed re maintenance/reliability. It is as good as it gets for a high performance vehicle. (My NSX was equally reliable/low maintenance)

Thanks everyone for response.
So i'll try to aim for 2011 but they are really on top of my budget.
I'm in no rush so with some time and luck I should be ok.
Can't wait.
Thanks again very friendly forum.

Get the newest one you can. The 2011 are better with suspension and lsd.
I am 6 foot 235 and I would say you got a few inches on the room. Seats sit low and you can adjust.
There is a neimen marcus in my area with 80k on it. The neimen was a short production car if your into that thing. I can send the link.
