I wanted a Gen 4 Supra ever since I saw it on the freeway in CA. Sadly, it never came about.

I have an 04 is300 that Im highly considering doing an LS swap. Im curious is to who did yours? What was the price for install? Did you switch from auto to manual?

Really thinking about doing it but want it done right.

All info would help.

Great cars by the way. I love the eliminator.

Me too - the first time I saw one I fell in love. Even after owning it for 16 years it is a car I sneak away to the garage just to look at. In a way I almost can't believe I have it. I'm so glad I got it when I did otherwise I would have been priced out of the market.

Mine was built by Matt Owen who owns Dedicated Motorsports. They sell pretty much everything you need for the swap. Check them out! http://www.dedicatedmotorsports.com/category-s/176.htm

The car was originally an auto and saw switched to a T56 manual along with the motor swap. Here is some more detail on the original swap (which was an LS1; LS3 was added a year later):

Unless you are attached to your '04 you should just sell it and buy my car. You'll save $10k vs building one yourself. PM me if you are interested.

Wow what a fantastic car history!
You know I'm curious:
How does that LS3 swap IS300 compare with the ISF?
With that much more torque and HP, does the chassis cope well?

The LS3 IS300 and the IS-F are similar in many ways; and different in just about the same number of ways. Both of the cars make great power, have great handling and brakes, and promise to be much more reliable than their German counterparts in the long run (apologies to any modern BMW owners in the room! I loved my E36 M3 but anything past an E46 scares me a bit).

As for differences, to me the IS-F is a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde car - mild mannered when you are driving leisurely, then a total brute when you want to rev beyond 3700rpms and really open it up. The IS300 is raw ALL of the time - it makes more noise and is easier to induce wheelspin at just about any point. It has gobs more torque than the IS-F which is very noticeable. The weight difference between the two cars is very noticeable too, especially under spirited driving. The IS-F has slightly better brakes which is enjoyable. I've not had the IS-F on the track yet but based on other drivers' feedback I would expect it to feel a little nose heavy compared to the better balanced IS300.

It would be hard to pick a favorite between the two.

Dang Nick you're all over! Glad to see you finally get into an F.

Hoping to do so myself. As soon as I can let go of the Supra.

Don't let go of the supra that's a collectable. Just like Acura NSX.

Welcome to the Obsidian F-amily!! Very nice stable of automobiles that you show. I'm sure we are all curious as to what lies in store for the F, given your modding history! Anyhow, enjoy the F and Happy New Year to all!!
