Exhaust drone - options?
ISS DES exhaust with PPE catless headers:
Hey guys I think I'm getting old but this 1800 rpm drone is killing me. I don't mind my exhaust being loud or deep but damn that drone is a killer. Talking on my phone is a mission, passangers in the rear have to talk louder lol.
What do you guys think? Was thinking about adding 2 resonators to the exhaust? Would this realistically help out with the drone? Would it fit anywhere on the DES system ?
Its 2.5 in/outlet, 4" body, and 12" in length

Had this with my custom H&S system when they installed it.
They've since added two small resonators where the secondary cats used to be.
It's not eliminated the drone completely, but it is a lot quieter than it was originally.
I'll try and snap some photos to show where they added them.

I found a company that has prefabbed the helmholtz chambers in mild or stainless steel in lengths ranging from 6" to 24". I would be interested to see if anyone has had success with these, their placement, and the size that they used to eliminate the drone. Pictures are always good.

I've seen others post this link, but I don't know if anyone on CL has tried them out.

I have read mustang forums, charger/challenger forums, etc... anyone with a V-8, and this seems to be the chosen solution. On almost all accounts, it solved the "droning" problem that the OPs were looking to fix.
The synapse product uses T304 stainless that will match my Borla pipes so I may give them a try. I contacted Borla to get their thoughts on the proper length, but you never know how long a reply might take.

Mike, that is the correct company. I am still fairly new to the forum and I didn't want to violate any forum rules by posting a link to an outside vendor. It is probably fine, but I chose the side of caution.

I contacted them regarding if 1 or 2 of their pipes are needed on a dual exhaust system. Which size we need for our nasty 1600-2100rpm range drone.
From their chart it needs to be as close to the headers to make the best noise reduction. Do we have space up there?
