Default Homelink set-up

Getting familiar with the new F and can't get the homelink to work with my garage door opener.

Tried resetting the homelink which I think is pressing buttons 1 & 3 outer most for about 20 secs until button 1 starts flashing radidly.

Press the learn button on main garage opener and followed basic instructions that came with car. Can't get it to link.

Reset the homelink again, pressed handheld garage door opener and kept it depressed while pressing button 1 on home link, still can't connect.

Tried the above numerous times.

Garage door opener is a lift master, about 9 years old.

Anyone have any suggestions or tips?

Thanks in advance.

Mine is kind of a pain at times too. It doesn't want to work when I am really close to it for some reason. I usually have to be about 30ft away from it which is weird but the further I get the better it seems to work lol. Try moving your car further away.

Try unplugging the power from your garage door opener. Problem is, it may reset all the connection it may have. I had to do it numerous times to make mine to work.

You have to make the homelink learn the handheld remote first. Depress for 20-30 sec and press 1 button on the homelink. Then press the lean button on the main garage opener and then press the button 1 until the main garage opener learns the homelink.

Thanks guys. Got it to work but didn't trouble shoot to see which variable was the cause. Basically I pulled out of the garage, reset homelink, linked homelink to handheld receiver, then pressed the learn button on garage unit and linked homelink. Works well now

I have had to do exactly this in both my 98,04 GS and my F.
