'17 Lexus Tail Lights
#16
Hey Mario and rest of the guys! I'm new to the forum. Bought my 2017 IS 350 F Sport RWD just this last weekend. About the rear lights refresh, frankly I hate it. I hope it grows on me soon. I took a pic of it just now, right next to 3G one from the net. I don't think it has done the IS any favors, if anything it made it look a bit cartoonish. In my mind, this is classic case of change for the sake of change gone bad.

This is not the first time Lexus fudged the tail lights with a refresh. I had an early model 2G IS and noticed when they did a refresh in its final years, they changed the internal light set up or something that made it look quirky and too busy. Now I'm on the receiving end of another refresh tail light mess up with my '17. On a positive note, the thinner lights do look sharper with better resolution or something than the 14-16 which look blurrier. I think they were trying to replicate the multiple depth / infinity light effect you see on the incoming LC 500 tail lights, with a much lower budget obviously. Overall the '17 refreshes are a net positive I think. The chunkier front end, the OEM blackout grill trim, and of course the 10 inch screen is a winner. The next Gen on the info system makes it a whole lot more tolerable.
