Updated Nav maps -and- How to access the head unit
2 questions, 1 thread.
Firstly, how do I access the rear of the stereo? I plan to install a dvd/nav bypass module.
Second, is there a way to get updated maps besides the stealership? Like...someway to download a micro sd card image? My maps version is 3 years old and it's become a nuisance, but I'm not paying $2xx for an sd card...that's a joke.

most of the bypass unit vendors have model specific instructions. some are sponsors here.
from my research on the SD card, the unit reads the card's device ID and registers it within its epprom as well as "marks" the card with its own ID. your best bet would be to buy a new card, bit copy it, and try to use the copy amongst multiple cars, but even then, there seem to be issues with that. I have 2 cars that I could spread my cost accross, but I would rather keep it legit
