Default LSD for 3IS F Sport

Hey guys, on the thmotorsports.com I noticed that there is an LSD available for sale for our cars. LSD called OS Giken LSD Super Lock LSD TCD. Have any of you thought about this upgrade or actually have this upgrade installed? Can you please share your experiences, thoughts on this important and functional upgrade.

I really think LSD can make a big difference in handling department.

Some companies are mistakenly listing 2006 - 2014 parts interchangeability when it should really say 2006 to 2013. I noticed in their description it states "GSE21 Chassis". That's only the 2IS generation. We are now in the GSE31 chassis for the RWD IS350. First thing I would do is call them and see if they have tested it in this chassis.

Here is a guy who had that unit installed though.

For the 4 to grand it costs installed I might just drop $800 instead on a square setup of R compounds and call it a day. You have to be serious about tracking this car for that moolah, IMO. But, yeah, it would be cool to have. Let us know what they say about fitment.

The OS Giken TCD Super Lock LSD puts the Lexus IS on a completely different handling category. The progressive lock-up allows you to throttle steer through the corners by applying more torque to the outside rear wheel via your pedal input. It literally behaves as a torque vectoring differential without having an actual ECU to dictate how much power should go to each wheel.

I do greatly benefit with having this TCD for my occasional track days but as my daily driver, every corner I take is an absolute blast, even if I'm driving only 7/10ths at the limits. It's honestly worth every penny. I have some additional information about the LSD on my build thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/bui...ld-thread.html.

As far as options go for the 3IS350, I've been wondering if the LSD options that are available for the IS-F are potentially compatible with the 3IS350 drivetrain since they both share similar 8-speed transmissions. If so, the options for the 3IS would probably be the Lexus Torsen LSD or the OS Giken TCD.

Interesting stuff, thanks for the input redspencer!

Would be awesome if we could swap in an ISF compatible diff.

sub'd..

Been very interested in this mod. I was disappointed to learn after purchasing that LSD was not standard. I just assumed rear wheel sports car.. has to have it right? guess not..

I to find the giken option to be more pricey than i'd like. I'm not necessarily worried about how many milliseconds it takes to lock up.. just want it to lock up.

Another mod that I'm highly interested in seeing a 3rd Gen IS350 owner doing is swapping out the 3IS350 diff (with its final drive ratio of 3.133) with the 2IS350 diff (with a more aggressive final drive ratio of 4.08). Top end speed would be reduced but acceleration improvement would be very noticeable with this performance mod if it works.

The 2IS350 4.08 diff swap has previously been done by a few IS-F owners and they were incredibly impressed with how fast the car was accelerating through each gear. With a 5.0L V8, there was a lot of issues with maintaining traction but with the 2GR-FSE V6, I think the 8-speed transmission/4.08 differential would be a very good combination for the 3IS350.

Here's the IS-F thread with the 2IS350 4.08 diff swap for everyone's reference: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...s350-diff.html

Is anyone willing to see if this is feasible?

SARD recently released their dedicated LSD for GSE30/AVE30. But I can't imagine why anyone need an LSD on a 200 hp car.

Called thmotorsport and they have no idea about the fitment issues with 3IS. They read directly from the website that we see as well so they said it fits. So they don't know for sure.

I think the best thing to do is to call directly to the OS OS Giken LSD manufacturer and ask them directly if they tested the diff on GSE31 chassis. I will try to do this sometime this week and report back.

This would definitely be on my mod list. It would take the car to another level. Keep us updated! Thanks!
