2006 IS350, 151k miles, good or bad buy?
So I found an 2006 IS350 for sale near me, it has 151,000 miles on it and I was wondering if these cars have any issues that long down the road? How reliable are the 350's? Would it be a good first car?

You can ask the guy where he's had it serviced. You can then call up the place and with the VIN number in hand they should be able to give you the run down of the maintenance work done on the vehicle.

It looks clean . Do they offer a car fax?

I wouldn't spend 10K on something with 150,xxx miles. I spent 15K on a 06 is350 with 60K and way cleaner than that. I bought it out of state and had it shipped.. There are deals to be had, you just have to look and actually work for them. Paying cash helps too..

You can lookup the dealer service records on the Lexus website. I ran it for mine and the only half way serious service that was done was the vvt recall.
I wouldn't be afraid to purchase it. Speaking from experience the only real maintenance item that I needed to do was all 4 wheel bearings. I'm at 167k. Other things to lookout for are leaking timing covers, (common v6 Toyota issue). As with any high milage car if you do your own work the cost of ownership isn't bad. Dealer wanted 1700 to do my rear bearings. I did all 4 with Timken units for under 600.
You might be able to get him to come down on the price some with that milage.
With price being equal I would rather drive an is350 than an is250 with half the miles.

I bought my 2006 IS350 3 mos ago with 126k miles. It was super clean, dealer serviced, and all recalls were done. I jumped on it because I know they are good reliable cars. Aside from a little oil consumption I love the car--sporty, fast, good looking, luxurious, and reliable.
And my mechanic bought a similar IS350 with 180k miles--if he trusts the car then I do!
