Exclamation 2006 is350. does misfire and rough idle have anything to do with valve spring recall?

hi, i recently got a 2006 is350 for a very cheap price with 160,000 kms (100k miles) but it has the check engine light on, the traction control light on and idles rough. odb2 reader says misfire in cyl #5, i swapped out the plug in 5 for a new one and same CEL came on, then i swapped the coil with #1 and #5 but still the same CEL came on. the car still has full power and pulls very hard but is rough at idle and CEL keeps coming back after i clear it.

i googled the problem and saw a couple threads of people having almost the same problem (some have more problems and some have a little less problems) and the bad valve spring that came on the is350 and gs350 is the main problem for this.

i went to lexus to ask if the valve spring recall has been done on my car and the service adviser told me there are 2 major recalls that have not been done to my car that need to be done asap. one is the valve spring recall and two is the fuel rail/line recall.

soooooo my main question and reason for this thread is to ask; is the bad valve spring the main and only reason my car is acting like this and when i take it in to get the recall work for the valve spring done will all my problems go away?

thanks for all your help people

I think you should get those recalls done as soon as possible and see if the problems go away. Then you can go from there. You will get a loaner car for free.

^Exactly! Get the recalls (FREE) out of the way; and hopefully they'll either have fixed the issue OR be able to advise you on the potential issue.

What CELs are you pulling?

I agree with the LucianoLee and Gville350. Get the recalls done. In fact, you should get the recalls done even if you weren't having an issue.

The valve springs do an important job, they close the valves and move them out of the way of the pistons. If one breaks, there is a risk of a bent valve or worse. Get the recall done.

yes i know i should get the recalls done and i plan on getting them done as soon as i register the car under my name but my question is to the people reading this thread, is the bad valve spring the main source of my problem and will the recall fix my problem?

like some of above replies said. We can't be sure it relates to rough idle but most likely it is.
Get your recall done and the tech will let you know what problem you have if valve spring recall did not fix it.

Default Mis-fire

Get you a new set of sparkplugs Jessica, that will probably get rid of the misfire. The IS350 is suppose to have a very reliable ignition system. So if you recently bought the car, new sparkplugs are good to start off with. If you have a competent mechanic, they can tell how the motor is doing by looking at the sparkplugs. That's probably all it needs. IMHO,
