tallest sidewall tires?
the roads are terrible in my city and I'm trying to turn my IS250 AWD into a cushier ride. I'm not really after performance since I have another sports car on coilovers that is like getting punched in the kidneys each time I hit a pothole, my IS is my daily and I just want a floaty boat ride. I also work in an industrial area and have to cross half a dozen train tracks everyday.
I was wondering if I could go up to a 225/60/17 tire without rubbing the fenders. this would give me a 2.66" increase over stock. Looking for anyone who has tried this? Will it rub?

225/60/17 will not fit inside the front fenders. I believe the tallest you can install is 225/50/17 or 235/50/17 and those will fit fine and give you a cushier ride. If you want smooth riding, soft, quiet tires then go with Pirelli Cinturato P7 A/S. In addition look for H rated ones. H rated tires are cushier over V, W or Y rated. Skinnier tires for less noise due to less contact area and better gas mileage.
I hope this helps a bit.

Ok so I've test fitted a set of 205/60/16 winter tires and they work great, no rub. That should be at a diameter of 25.7"
From the thread you posted it looks like 235/50/17 with a diameter of 26.3" fits with a slight rub. Now I've got to buy my summer tires and I'm thinking of trying to squeeze in even more like a 205/70/16 that would give me 26.5". I just want to stuff as much tire as possible in. I might try pulling the liners and hammering some sheet metal.
