IS250 Oil Filter
I usually use the OEM oil filter which comes with the single big gasket. But some of the non-OEM filters that people use for their IS250 seems to have another small ring gasket, just wondering what thats for and how come OEM filters dont come with it?

Just found the answer. The RWD IS250 only has the one single big O ring, which is why the OEM one i get for my car always comes with the one O ring. The AWD IS250 has the small O ring too. It has something to do with the way to drain the oil. The AWD IS250 is drained through the small O ring area, whereas the RWD doesnt have that instead has a groove to drain the oil and hence only the 1 O ring.

Lexus and Toyota filters that are mounted vertically utilize both O Rings those that mount horizontally only use the large O Ring.
Reason.
The vertical Oil Filter housing drains from the bottom of the filter, there is a separate drain plug at the bottom end and the oil is drained when you remove the plug and insert a spring loaded plastic piece and the oil drains.
The Horizontally mounted Oil Filter has no such fitting because it wouldn't drain properly. The oil starts to drain as you remove the Filter Housing.
