Default sticky interior door lock?

As the years roll by, I've noticed my inside door handle becoming harder to operate. When the car is locked and I go to open the door, it seems to be catching on the lock part. Like it's smooth and free until it reaches the part where it unlocks the door. When it reaches that point, it becomes twice the effort, kind of like it's catching on it. Also makes a slight click noise as it struggles to push the lock over.

Has anyone come across this? I'm feeling it needs lubrication in there or something to that effect. I'm quite leary of tearing open the door to get in there. If given to the dealer, any guesses on how long the work would be to lubricate or adjust the affected area?

Thanks for any advice.
