Radio/USB "Error 1" and "Error 6" Message
Hey everyone!
I'm new to Lexus and new to Club Lexus, so just want to say this is a great site so far and an amazing brand to be apart of!
I'm having a problem with my new 2012 Lexus IS250 AWD w/o NAV - when connecting my USB flash drive into the port in the arm rest console, It loads ONE second of a song and then stops and flashes "Error 1" on the screen and/or "Error 6", depending on if I restart the car or not. I've looked on here, and other sites and tried formatting the drive, tried (and bought) other drives, organized the folders differently, etc...
I'm usually a computer/tech savvy guy, but this one is stumping me. Any help will be much appreciated!!
-Joe

U have to have your phone plugged in and press the CD/AUX button until the car detects your USB (I kept getting Error 6 and only error 6 the first day I got the car). For me, I use my iPhone but still via USB cable, sometimes it works the first time, sometimes the second, sometimes I have to unplug the phone, wait a few seconds and then plug it back in and do it again. I've had my car for a week now and i get it on the first try only half the time but hey, at least it works haha. I'm also the tech guy in my family but it was my mom who figured it out. Hope this helps.

I experienced an error 6 this morning when using my ipod. I have an older model that does not hold a charge easily so I thought maybe it died and I tried connecting my iPhone 5 via usb and I got the same error.
There was also an error message on my iPhone saying something like "This device cannot be charged."
Any idea how to fix this / what caused it?

that's strange. I've never gotten that error message before on my iPhone 5 but now, this is what I do exactly, step by step:
1). Press the AUX button and press it until I get to the USB function
2) connect my phone and wait until the sound system detects the device
3) select a song and start playing it
or you could also plug your phone in first and then press the AUX button until you get to the USB function but idk if it's just me but I find that there's a less of a chance of getting error 6 if you do it the way how I described above.

I just bought an '11 IS250 yesterday and I have this "error 6"-problem. I've tried connecting and disconnecting countless times and countless ways. It still only plays a few seconds and then stops.
Is there anybody out there who has a sure way to fix this?

Yes, I do believe I have Bluetooth, haven't tried it yet though!
Much more convenient without a cable, indeed. It's nice to be able to charge and listen to music at the same time though.
Thanks.

I"ve had the car for almost a year now and here's what I've been doing all this time, pretty much the same as what I had mentioned above:
1) plug my phone in via USB
2) press the CD/AUX button up to where it displays IPOD in the display unit
3) wait for the car to detect the iPod and it'll automatically start playing music
Now I also have an iPod and sometimes the iPod for some weird reason does not work as well and this is what my other method was:
1) plug in via USB
2) gives me the error/detects iPod but won't start playing music so I unplug
3) plug it in again but the CD/AUX is displaying Bluetooth on the screen atm
4) keep pressing CD/AUX until I get back to where it shows IPOD again
normally after this time, it works, even for my iPod but the bluetooth works just as well. Let me know if you have any other questions
