Once you turn the car on is the video normal? I'm considering this camera and probably won't be using the parking mode, but I'm curious if my car sits out in the sun if I'll get the purple video even after I start up the car?
For instance, the high today is suppose to be 107. I'm curious if my car sits out in the heat for a few hours if the camera will malfunction until the interior cools down (which will probably take a while)?
I may just end up getting the ITB-100 instead.

I use it how they advertised it. With parking mode on while I am out doing something.

Looks like the price went up to $269 with dream-seller. Huge jump. Also they are selling a new 2nd version.

Skimming through forums, I guess they do have heat issues.

I broke down and got one off ebay for $180 shipped and it finally arrived yesterday. I'm not planning on using parking mode due to the purple video issue since I live in Texas, but I want it hardwired so I don't have wires hanging everywhere.
From reading through these forums it seems like there are various ways to do this, like through the rear view mirror, radio harness, etc. Does anyone have any instructions or pictures of how to do this (any method)? I'd really like to give my husband some sort of direction before I turn him lose in my car. He is very handy and has wired some stuff in his previous car, but he is not familiar with the IS at all. I've got an '08 non-navi 250.

i was surfing around on youtube looking at random videos and i stumbled upon a lot of "insurance fraud schemes" where people just stop in the middle of the road to try and get you to rear end them.
also another one which a lady STOPS in the middle of the road and BACKS herself into your front and tries to blame it on you because it would seem like you hit her... it's all messed up what people do...
im glad i have a dashcam as it is absolutely the best investment to save from fraud insurance and just in general not having to deal with extra bull**** that's unncessary due to stupid people on the road

My rear one through passenger C pillar.
No pics. If your husband can change the oil on his car he won't have a problem with running these wires.

In case anyone cares about the mic quality on these Blackvues...I present to you a simple microphone mod makes a HUGE difference in sound quality for about $10
The audio on the Blackvue DR400g-HD stinks. I can barely make out my own voice. So I dug through my laptop spare parts and ripped a microphone off an Apple Macbook Pro 13" laptop chassis I had extra (you can find these mics on ebay for $10). The mic is a bit bigger but there's more than enough room for it. It took about a minute to desolder the old mic and solder on the new one.
Makes a huge difference in the quality and clarity of voices/music in the background.

I got the GW1 BC for around 65 bucks and it works great. I'm still playing around with mounting options for my RX300. My unit is the new blacked out bezel with no battery and uses a capacitor instead, due to overheating issues. Here in AZ anything subjected to the sun is going to reach close to 200 degrees at times. I mean you can burn your hand opening the door. I'm concerned about ease of removal of the unit from its mount for safekeeping. I hear that the plastic can heat up and it can be chore to get the cam off when it's hot. And yes, I have needed one; watched a woman confuse the gas with the brake pedal and climb a Safeway wall, watched a woman hit a skateboarder who did a complete sumersawlt in midair, people running red lights and so on. Think about this though, if YOU are in the wrong, your own video might show up in court.

I went with the Mobius Action Cam ($75) due to it being well reviewed, relatively cheap, and not having a screen so it is less noticeable. I can just put the MicroSD card in my phone to view footage while away from home if needed. Still working on finding the best settings though. Right now license plate numbers are sometimes tough to read.
