I've taken it in previously about this noise and they came back and told me I needed to leave it there for a piston ring recall. They did a re-ring and exhaust midpipe free of charge, and water pump just parts waiving the labor fee. They took care of me in this situation, however now the can problem I have previously complained about is still a problem. I have opened a case in corporate for disputing the diagnostic fee, and I may call back and extend it to the cam problem.
I along with many other owners shouldn't have to pay for an engineering flaw.

I didn't read that far back in the thread, but have you had your 250 rebuilt for the campaign already?

I have a 08 and been having this problem for years. I have like 160k miles. The dealer won’t do this service for me for free will they?

I've had this intermittently on my 2006 IS250 AWD since I got it in 2008. Recently it’s become more frequent. I’m over 160,000 miles so I doubt it’ll be covered under any warranty at this point.
What’s the outcome when the part fully fails? Is it something I can wait on to fail completely and then get fixed or will it break other things on its way out?

I switched to a thinner oil and it fixed my issue. Originally using 5W-30 to 0W-30. I had that slight rattle on cold startup about 4 years ago. After I switched, haven’t heard it since.
