06 350 reliability/maintainence costs
Hi all, I am looking into purchasing a is350 soon, but it has about 40k miles and seems to be maintained well. I will also get it inspected before I go further with the deal. The owner did mention that the rear breaks will need to be replaced, any idea how much those cost? Also, any of you had any major problems with your 350's? Is maintaining it as easy as a toyota? My dad has a rx and its been pretty easy just tires and oil changes, is it safe to say the 350 is the same? Also, the IS I am looking into has the premium and lux package with nav(40 k miles), I negotiated her down to 23k, what do you guys think? Looking forward to coming on here soon and thanks in advance for your input.

I can tell you this much about owning a 06 350, if your car was one of the earlier production models, there are a lot of recalls for it.
Make sure that he has done them all, before purchasing it. In regards, to serious engine maintenance, I haven't had any issues, and I beat on my car on a daily basis. (35k miles and going strong).
Brakes you can do yourself, so its the same as any other car.
$23k is a real good price for the car, but again just verify that all maintenance has been kept up to date. Make sure to have someone inspect the rear end also.

GREAT car!is all I have to say ...I have an 06350 and LOVE it ...got it last year with only 12Kmi on it...only issue I had was passenger HID went - replaced under warranty.
It has a couple minor rattles in the dash but not enough to call it BAD...more so annoying---
changing the oil is not straight forward...but there is a DIY on here that explains it really good - pics and all
she is fast but gentle on the ride- sporty but not firm..good steering feel...and when you want her to go--SHE GOES
Lexus should have built this years ago---finally they cut the crap, with the exception of the ISF- its the fastest thing they've Got. You'll love it- but as long as you arent interested in havin a real rear passenger room car- cause forget about the back seat for any long drives or tall people

Remember when I say to make sure that all the recalls have been done, its for your benefit. My car never had anything wrong with it, my service writer would just call me and let me know my car had a recall and before or even if something went wrong (which is unlikely), he performed the service for the recall.

As with any Toyota, all IS's have been very reliable. Check Consumer Reports for proof.
