FYI - corrosion problem on 06-08 OEM 17's
just wanted to let you fellow snowy climate 2IS owner know.
One of my OEM 17' winter rims started to corrode a couple of weeks ago - took it to the dealership friday, and they let me know that they had a note from Lexus to replace all 4 if any customer asks.
Apparently the edges were made too sharp - resulting in too thin layer of coating being applied and thus corrosion.
'09 17's are rounded off and not prone to corrosion. - you can see the difference pretty easily.
In addition one of my xenons have been going on/off sometimes, and they replaced that too for free.

I was just going to make a post like this. My rims have started to bubble and corrode. Oakley IS could you provide any additional information, just in case my dealer decides not to replace my rims.

two of mine were actually curbed a little bit too - so that made it extra pleasant to pick up my car today with 4 fresh rims.
However, they did not look like the '09 17's that I saw there - they look pretty much exactly like the old ones.
They told me that the edges on the OEM 17's were too sharp, so the lacquer layer came out too thin.
I just asked them if corrosion after 1 winter was normal on a Lexus, and they told me right away that they had a note on their computer to replace all 4 when any customer raised that issue.

im sorry - I never took a picture of my rims before I got the new ones today.
However there seems like theres a couple of others here with the same problem who might be able to help you.
Theres tons of people on the UK forum aswell with the same issue.
whats funny is that I knew it was corrosion, as it looked exactly like the paint bubble on my friends Sportcross trunk hatch - which is also aluminium..

I'm going to give this a try at my dealer and see what they say.
If anyone could give more information with regards to the "note" that is in the Lexus computers that would b great. Just in case the dealer doesn't want to replace the rims, which I have a feeling will be the case.
