Default what am i doing wrong? super low mpg

hey guys, been with my is250 awd for about 1.5 months now and i have no idea why but I get really sucky MPG. I don't have a heavy foot by any means and drive my IS pretty soft and often use the cruise control when I can. Yet my average is still a sucky 21.4 mpg. It's not even as high as the claimed CITY mpg of 22 and 28 highway by lexus. I use the specified premium gas and everything. Any tips?

Ignore the EPA ratings. They're outdated and going to be changed soon.

How much city v. highway driving do you do? I'm averaging about the same mpg as you with my IS250 RWD, but I drive 95% city driving.

Is that your overall avg or your tank avg? Your overall mileage will take a while to build up as it probably drank a lot of gas idling at the dealership for test drives and such.

Your tank average will be more reflective of your habits.

My MPG is terrible as well on My IS350. I dont drive crazy and I get 21MPG combined, despite the rating of 22/28

By comparison my MT Base 1994 3000GT with an EPA rating of 19/25 gets around 24MPG total.

Summary
IS350 = 21MPG actual - EPA rating =22/28
3000GT= 24MPG actual - EPA rating =19/25

A lot of my driving is cruising down the parkway.

It just sucks, that I have to watch the way I drive in the IS350 to get 21MPG. In the 3K, I drive the way I want and get 24-25MPG

Do you do a lot of city driving? I average 21mpg on my daily commute w/ stop-and-go traffic. On a recent road trip (avg speed 78mph) I managed to get 29mpg.

yeah same thing is happening to me, I just hope it will change overtime, although when I look at current mpg, it tends to stay around the 30- 40 mpg range

I have about 1200 miles, and my per-tank average is hovering around 16 mpg. That's with 99% city driving at speeds of about 10-15 mph.
