Maybe trading 06/IS250 for 03/SC430? NEED feedback
Please give me feedback on what you guys think. I have been a die hard sc lover for a long time. I bought my IS new and wonder if I am being silly trading down 3 years. The SC is a 2003 one owner ,silver, 44,000 miles carfax PERFECT! Probably would be keeping the same payment, as I have a lot of equity in my IS. Give me some feedback!

Not much we can tell you really. The SC is a fine car in a different way, which you obviously know. If your heart tells you that is the car for you, and the financials make sense, why not? Let us know how it comes out.

I find that SC is slower than my IS350, but you have 250 so maybe it will make more sense for you, other than that i look at it as hard top convertible for 48K plus, for that kind of money I can get SL500 hard top Vert 03' Test drive it and if you still like it let me know, the SL500 is fast. The SC is kinda ok but that's just my .02 cents

go for the SC....the chicks love it. Just make sure you replace the stock wheels with some nice expensive 20's and do a 2006 LED taillight upgrade. my old roommate has a white one with 20" iForged and we turn heads everytime we take it out.

The 2003 SC430 looks beautifull also and for $34k (39,778 milles) its a better deal than the SL500. For $36K you can get the 2005 model (Star Pearl on the bottom)

Its personal preference.
I, personally, wouldn't do it because when I think of SC430, I think of female driver. Its sort of the same mind set as I have with Miatas and similar cars.
If you really like it and it suits you financially, then I say go for it.

Well I traded my 2003 SC430 for my 2007 IS350, which is exactly the opposite of what you are doing. There were alot of reasons I made the trade:
1. The SC's ride was very harsh, now everyone said it was because of the run flats, don't know if that was true or not. But I wasn't going to spend $1500 for new tires to find out.
2. The car had more rattles from the roof then any car I ever drove, I couldn't believe a car that costs that much had so many rattles. It was in the dealership 6 times and they still couldn't fix the rattles. It also had rattles in the doors on any music that had alot of bass. And from what I read on the forums, this is a big problem with the SC.
3. It is definitly alot slower then the IS, it was alot slower then my 350Z also which is what I traded in for it.
4. Keep this is mind, the car is almost 5 years old, check the seals on the roof real well, because according to Lexus these are not covered under warranity. They are considered normal wear and tear, and if they go bad they are very expensive to replace.
5. This is just for me, the back seat was useless, if I wanted to take my grandkids anywere, I would have to trade cars with the wife for the day. And she really hated driving the SC, but she loves the IS.
6. One thing I didn't like about the SC's radio is that it wasn't intergrated with the Navi, and the car didn't have a backup camera or bluetooth and couldn't play MP3's, that was just something I really wanted.
Well those are just a couple of reasons, why I traded the opposite of what you are, hope this helps you. On a side note riding with the top down was great.

I seriously considered it...
I had always wanted the SC430.
When the time came around in '05 to get a new car, I had the choice between an SC430 and the soon-to-be-released IS350.
I ultimately put in a Special Order for the IS350 because it had more power, more gas efficiency, fully loaded cost $20k less, had functional rear seats, less insurance premiums, and more modding capabilities in the future.
I would have gone for the SC for the folding hardtop alone, but alas, it just didn't add up.
Would I buy an SC350? Perhaps, if it cut the cost significantly. Lexus would never do such a thing to their luxo-cruiser.
Would I buy an IS hardtop convertible? Definately!!!

the reason i wouldn't trade my IS for an SC is because the SC body style should be changing sometime in the next couple years since it has been around for a while now.
