Default illuminated entry

Hi,

Just got my awd 250 a few days ago. Now after reading the manual, i noticed the interior lights (mainly the overhead ones) are not turning on when i approach the car or unlock/open the doors.

Here is what is in the manual (page 210)...

on approach:
front and rear overhead courtesy light <- did not turn on (i assume this is the dome light, right?)
outer foot light <- this works

unlock/open doors:
front and rear interior light <- did not turn on (btw, what's the difference between this and the overhead courtesy light?)
front foot well light <- this works
front door courtesy light <- this work also
front scuff light <- don't have this...

is there a switch that I didn't turn on? I have the DOOR switch turned on, and ON/OFF switch turned off.

I think the difference is that one of them might be the dome light(s) and the other refers to the LED spot lights.

If your dome lights are in DOOR mode, it should come on as the manual said.

Arent there lights underneath the mirriors when you approach the car on the is350? lol

Hmm... I think I'll get the dealer to look at it then... I tried putting ON/OFF button to ON but the dome light stays on forever...

I think the LED ones are called personal lights in the manual. And yes, the lights underneath the mirrors (manual called outer foot light) worked too...

Any resolution to this. I just got my 250 and notice the same thing. It also applies to the illuminated scuff plate. The only way I can get it to work is by putting the ON/Off to On but, like you, the dome light stays on forever.

You need to press the other button labeled "DOOR"

actually, you need to have the DOOR button 'unpressed' (meaning the button does not stay flat with the trim around it), apparently that's the ON position. while the ON/OFF button is the opposite... weird... anyway, now I have both buttons 'unpressed'...

Hey Jacky, we have the exact same car, down to the colour. So to get it all proper = Door button in and on/off button out?

I'm a bit lost with the out/in since you say the buttons are sequenced the same. The door button set to out (not flush with trim) and the on/off button in (flush with trim)?

no... they are not, they are the opposite...

DOOR - flush with trim means OFF
ON/OFF - flush with trim means ON (you probably know this already since it is easy to see the light is ON)

so i just leave both 'out' (not flush with trim)

yeah, leave them both 'out'. it took me a while to figure it out. it'll look even more amazing if you decide to change the bulbs to leds...

Sorry, I meant aren't sequenced the same.

Thanks for the heads up on how to set it properly. The manual was confusing.
