Default A/C question not in manual

IS350, Premium w/Nav.

When I start my car, with the climate control in AUTO, the mode switch that controls the RECIRC/AUTO/OUTSIDE AIR seems to go on RECIRC or OUTSIDE AIR all on its own. I have to press the switch to get it to go to AUTO everytime the car is restarted.

I realized this when I left the dealership today (the high was 102 degrees here), and the A/C started getting really weak. It took a minute to realize it had gone into OUTSIDE AIR mode and was pulling in hot air faster than it could cool it. Set it back to AUTO and all was well.

So ... how do I get it to stay in AUTO mode??? I'm willing to let the system automatically decide when to switch between recirculated and outside air (like every other car I've owned), but I don't want to have to press that damn button everytime I get in the car!

Cool

I had this done as part of the personalized settings you can get done free at the dealership. They can make the car air conditioner stay in auto mode. You can still manually change it.

Bless you bless you bless you!

I was afraid I was sentenced to stabbing that button 2 or 3 tmes every time I started the car!

I'll have it done when my plates come in.

Thank you, thank you!

Cool

I think this is only on the IS350's. It is not on my friend's who has an IS250. This is what it looks like on the IS350:

I am having the same problem too. When I picked up my car I told them to leave all the default Lexus Preferred Setings (LPS). Having the recirculate/outside mode being in auto is the default. I notice that whenever I get into the car and turn the a/c in auto mode the recirculate/outside button never seems to be in auto mode (i.e., auto is not lit up) unless I manually selected it. I took my car to the dealership today and they checked it. They said the LPS shows that it is selected in for the default of auto. They were not sure why the auto light was not lit when the a/c is turned on. I asked my friend to check her IS350 and she says hers does the same thing. The dealer said something like the auto light may not come on initially, however, it is in auto mode and that maybe the light won't come on until car first goes from recirculate to outside or visa versa. Has anyone else experienced this or can people check this on their IS350? BTW, this is only a feature on the IS350 from what I gather.

Here is what you chose with the Lexus personalized settings. It is the last one on the sheet. I will attach the link below so that you can see what all your personalized settings choices are.

Air Conditioner
15. Automatic recirculation of air when using A/C.

When the air conditioner is ON or in AUTO, the vehicle can be programmed for the following:
1. To automatically switch between the recirculation mode and fresh air mode as necessary to meet the temperature requirements set. (Standard)
2. When the climate control is turned on, the user must manually select the desired mode, recirculation or fresh air mode. (Optional)

These are all the personalized settings you can have your dealer change: (scroll past the picture of the Lexus)

The link is bad. Can you point me to the right one? I was just about to ask about the LPS list, since mine hasn't yet been done ...

EDIT: Never mind - I just found it on the Lexus website.
