For my taste, I like both the exterior & interior of the new IS250/350 WAY better than the first generation. The 2IS looks sporty, but also in a more elegant way to me.

If you can remember when the first IS came out, in my opinion it was a good looking, affordable car with a decent interior.

Once everyone started knocking off the altezza tail-lights, never looked twice.

Lexus went above and beyond expectations with the 2IS

2IS is WAY better than 1IS: styling, performance, luxury/refinement, you name it. 1IS was good when it first arrived; I considered buying it, until I sat in one--couldn't move my left elbow without bumping against the door panel (and I am just an average-size Asian guy). Even G35C's front was roomier than 1IS's. To me, 1IS was more geared toward the Fast & Furious, I-am-graduating-from-high-school-this-year crowd, while 2IS is for the more mature and professional.

Last weekend the wifee and I were at the motorcycle dealership,& while we were trying out the seat covers on a new Yamaha FJR1300, a couple in a white IS300 parked and walked over to our IS350. They checked it out for about ten minutes. They never came into the dealership, must have seen it driving by, cause they left right after.
There isn't very many IS350's south of Culpepper.

If you really cared what 1IS owners think, you wouldn't have announced it here. As of this point in time, the only people that have voted in the 1IS thread are 2IS owners.

I like both but do feel the 2IS looks better and is a proper Lexus. It's bigger, more luxurious, more stylish, more features, and faster (350) than the 1IS.

On the other hand, you can mod the heck out of the 1IS. As much as you want. I can't see over modding the 2IS, it would look overdone...like that one at the Dub show.

When I first saw the 1gen IS, I fell in love with the car. I had already planed on buying one, untill I saw the new IS come out, not to mention the fact that the new IS was alot faster.

But I still like the 1gen IS, and would like to make that my project car

When I saw the 1IS for the first time, I couldn't even believe it was a Lexus. I wouldn't have even given the 1st gen. IS a 2nd thought. Then when the 2nd gen. IS came out, I absolutely fell in love with the car and couldn't stop staring at it. From my above comments, I think you can tell where I stand on this question.

Just like a lot have said on this thread, when the first IS came out, I wanted one, never got one but loved it and dreamed of it. Now I grew outta that and don't like it anymore. It's a kid type car and reminds me of an Acura.

I agree completely. I really did like the previous gen IS, but it didn't have enough in the performance department, or luxury to really warrant a purchase. It was a unique vehicle, but was rather mediocre after time passed...but I will always like it. With the new 2IS, it seems as if they did everything right (save for rear seat space), and have built what is essentially the 'perfect' car for my current intent and purposes.

The new IS is off da chain! I didn't like the old IS at all. Everytime I saw it, I couldn't tell weather is was a Civic, or Lexus, until I got up on it. The new IS is giving you Luxury as soon as you see it!
