Whats this sound coming from my headlights?
I removed my headlight assemblies a couple days ago and opened them up to paint the inside. i was 100% sure i put everything back together correctly. NOW though, im not so sure. I just went outside to look as some bulbs to get leds and heard this high pitched whining noise, very quiet though, coming from my headlights. but only when the low or high beams are on. if its just the parking lights on, no noise. could the motor for the directional lights be jacked up somehow? WHAT DID I DO!!!!???

literally just crawled into bed and remembered. so here i am... leaping out of bed... i did JUST take out the puddle lights to replace them with leds. and i DID turn the headlights on with the puddle lights removed. is there some sort of buzzer that i dont know about? @ Mv350, all my lights are still factory. as far as HID, no idea. how can i tell the difference between HID and halogen? halogens are have a yellow color to them when lit up right?

as long as the lights are on they will make the noise. if i could hear it in person i could let you know exactly what it was. but it just sounds like the power to the HID's, they all make constant noise.
as to figuring out if you have factory HID
HID/afs-lights buzz , they move when turning, the move up then down when lights turn on. if you remove the factory bulb it will say phillips D4s on it. which is HID.

Well when you painted the inside of your headlights, you baked them to open them up right? Maybe when you put them back together a small air hole was created through the glue and is making that whistling noise.
Take your car into your garage and turn off all the lights. Then turn on your car's lights and if your headlights are about the same color as your fogs then you dont have HIDs and that is the problem. If your headlights are a bit whiter and brighter then you most likely have HIDs and thats what causes the buzzing noise. That noise shouldnt be too noticable though. GL
