How long should I wait?
I got my UGO roof spoiler repainted yesterday. The shop used water based paint, and either let it air-dry or used heat lamps...I'm not sure which. How long should I wait until I mount it with 3M molding tape? My main concern is potentially tearing off fresh paint in the process or on the road. A clear bra shop told me to wait 3 weeks before making an appointment because the paint could peel if it hasn't had the time to fully cure.
Do I need to be as cautious when mounting a spoiler? Thanks.

Did they paint the area that is going to be mounted to the car? If yes... Why?
I would carefully sand the paint off of the mounting area that touches the car.
Just so the un-necessary paint won't compromise the bond. (you won't see it anyways..)
But if you want to wait it out, 2-3 days should be good, or wait a week if you want to be extra cautious.

Actually, they did paint the mounting surface. I wasn't sure if doing so would be a benefit or a hindrance. The paint may be a weak point until it fully cures, but then again, it seems like DS tape sticks well to smooth surfaces.
Apparently, the paint is still a little soft. I put it on a box out in the sun in hopes of it drying faster (I don't know if that would actually do anything lol), and I noticed indentations in the clear coat from the edges of the box. The paint felt nice and dry, so I wasn't expecting that to happen. I took out my PC7424 and polished it. The damage is barely noticeable, but I'm surprised that it happened in the first place.
Is this what unbaked water-based paints are like? I've never had an issue like this before, and this shop has painted several parts for me in the past.
