12V Batteries - Updates? Specific Models?
Hello Clublexus,
I've done hours of searching and I can't seem to find a definite answer on which batteries are direct replacements for our 3rd Gen GS450H 12v batteries, located in the driver side trunk.
Can anybody chime in with specific models of batteries they have successfully used?
Also, I read that the extra wires are just thermo sensors that can be taped/glued on. Is there a better approach to this?
Thank you so much!
FYI - Dealer wants to charge 450+tax for a replacement. So I'm hoping to find a good replacement since I heard the panasonics are not the greatest.

I purchased an optima recently and replaced it quite easily. I think i paid around $170 on amazon. I believe you need to stick to group 35 batteries or something like that. Hence the D35 below for mine. I just pulled the sensor out of the original and tucked it to the side of the new battery. There is no real better approach to it cause other batteries wont have a place holder for it. There's also an air tube that i just put aside. Been running fine for past two months.

Can people buy the battery direct from Lexus?
My 12V battery is still kicking after a little over 8 years so I assume it's a good one. I assume we can just get it direct from the Lexus dealer or have our own mechanics get them?

Just in case you want your mechanic to get the battery from Lexus and change it out themselves. The MSRP for our GS450H battery is 388$. But my mechanic would have charged me only 45$ for labor. There are some posts that list different online dealers and I did see it listed as low as 323$ online but you'll have to add shipping on top of that.
I ended up replacing my 8 year, 8 month old 12V battery with another Lexus battery. I got good mileage out of the first one and don't mind spending a little extra for original equipment that lasts for such a long time. Also I was a little rushed with my hybrid battery dying at the same time. But I would have had my mechanic get the Lexus OEM battery anyways if I were going to have him change it out for me.

That's strange about the yellow top, because all other threads I've come across, the Optima YT's have worked just fine............I'm cautiously optimistic since I just replaced my factory one with the YT.......Taped the temp sensor on top and taped off the vent tube and laid it to the side.
Bolido and KOSC300, can you elaborate on 'draining issues'?
