Adding tow hitch?
#17
Just installed the Curt hitch. Pretty easy. I did notice on the driver side the a plug like I see in the videos. I guess even without the tow prep package they have it wired.
i assume then all I need is that adapter wire.
I assume all I need is this (though it says for 2012 and mine is 2013).

All of 450h get that plug. But when you connect the harness, you will find it dead.
Trust me, I found out the hard way. If you look under the hood, you will see 2 towing fuses missing. Replacing them won't do a thing. There's a plug where the controller goes, which is behind the right tail light. Took me a few hours to locate it. I had the whole left side disassembled trying to trace wires from the plug you mentioned. It ended up on the right side.
You can certainly buy that connector. That's what I got from Curt. Ended up wiring a generic towing lights controller I already had from a previous car. Having all of wires accessible in a single plug made it a walk in the park.

I initially purchased a Reese hitch for my 2013 Lexus RX350. It mounted up okay but did not have sufficient clearance between the exhaust pipe and the hitch. I had to remove it and purchase a Curt hitch which fit properly and had plenty of clearance between the exhaust tailpipe and the hitch.
Beware!!!!!!!
I purchased the electrical quick connect from E-Trailer and it plugged in with no issued. Extremely happy with installation now that I have a Curt hitch installed.

The plug I saw was also connected to some black box just above it -- I had thought it was a controller. The remaining wires went into the deck.
So I assume it is not connected anywhere on the right side (near tail light). And I need some controller to wire to it and the tail light (there is a plug?)? Then I can also buy that adapter.
Sorry but I am confused...

Nope. If you weren't charged for the towing prep, you don't have it.

i assume yours came with the Tow Prep package based on the other post (i.e., that the plug would be dead).

I checked by fuse box. The #44 fuse (30 amp) for towing is present.
Can I then assume that plug in the back under the left side is live?
(#43 Towing batt fuse is empty as well as #45 Filter.
