MPG on RX400
#17
Like other have mention, if you drive mostly highway, then get the RX350. The rx400h is not very friendly with highway due to its added weight (battery).
My experience: Took a upstate ski trip with my rx400H (06) and my friend's RX330 (04). We decide to do a MPG comparison. We both fill up the tank in the same gas station. After 320miles & 99% highway, my average was 24.1MPG and he got 26.7 after calculation
in NYC city drive, I avg 23mpg and he only got about 16MPG

Wanted to check in and mention I got 26.25 mpg driving back from Minnesota to Nebraska (mostly highway, last stretch is on I-29)
I think I would have been around 27 mpg without the interstate part

Anyone else getting better mileage on the highway than the city?
I have noticed that on longer trips, I get better mileage. But my commute is few miles. Anyway to get better mileage on short trips?

The first 5 minutes or so, the engine has to run to heat the catalytic converter. Therefore, short commutes give poor mileage. Don't know of any way around this except riding a bicycle. The mileage estimated for city driving does not apply to many short trips with cool down during the stops.

I've had my 400h for about a week. I've been averaging 32mpg mixed driving. Mostly highway I can still squeeze out 30mpg using hybrid friendly techniques. This is with 250 miles driven so far. I also have a 1995 Civic Vx and developed some hyper-milling techniques that translate to the lexus, I actually dont have to even try that hard to get 32mpg. I think 35-36 is possible, but it may **** off a few people following you!
