Default test drove a 400H

Ok, little woman and I went and drove the RX400H this evening, it is a 2007 with 53k miles with Nav, backup camera, Mark Levinson sound, 18 inch wheels, AWD, heated seats, hids, rain sensor wipers.etc.
The Car was a two owner car, original from Burbank CA. and up to 42k miles with all service in system except from 26k to 42k miles...???? The second owner bought the car in April 2010 and it was kept only 9 months until Jan 2011. The car has been sitting on the lot for a month. Asking price has been dropped from $32998 to 31998 this week. The Car is immaculate, has Goodyear tires (not sure about these)
and no apparent leaks anywhere. The battery is unknown as for replacement (12v) but may have been done in April of 2010. The Car is silver. What are your thoughts, and what would be a good offer price.?? Salesman said ipod interface can be added under the satellite radio selection, is this true...???? (for $300)

I wouldn't worry about the 12 volt battery - cheap and easy to replace if needed.

The 2007 came with the 5th generation NAV, which looks nicer than the 4th gen (which was in the 2006 400h). I'm not sure if there is a NAV override on the 5th gen to allow you to input destinations while driving, use phone etc. Even it there is, if it has a newer NAV disc version, the override was removed.

Goodyear tires? What model? Goodyear makes some terrible tires, but also some very good tires.

The 2007 stereo will play .mp3, which the 2006 didn't. Don't know about iPod/SAT - again 2006 (which I have) didn't come with SAT.

That price seems high to me, but what do I know...Canadian prices are all over the map.

I wouldn't worry about the car being silver. There is no evidence that silver vehicles suffer any more mechanical breakdowns than blue vehicles.

Seat heaters are nice, but a $30 pair of thermal underwear is cheaper than aftermarket (if they even exist) seat heaters.

The tires wire Eagle RSA by Goodyear...What are your thoughts on offering $28000 and maybe a free 60k service when it comes up. I have noticed that the 400h's on their lot are not moving...been there for a couple of months. Their dealer showroom was void of customers...I believe the local economy is being very cautious...Sales have to be down.Help I need feedback...They are going to be bugging me this weekend....

Default Market Value

They have an over-inflated view of the market value. I am familiar with a fully equiped 2008 RX400h that sold last week in the Atlanta area for $26,000. It had about 62,000 miles and was perfect. I would suggest you offer $24,000 all fees included, excluding TT&L. Check some of the sites for prices like ebay, autotrader, cars, etc. The ones with the higher prices just aren't selling. If your dealer is proud of his price, he can expect it to be on his property til the cows come home. Good luck.

the average price in the local Autotrader was $28100 for the 2007 RX400h I am thinking offer $28000 and ask $5000 for my RX300, pay cash for Tax and License and finance the remainder $23000...How does that sound...It is a CPO car with warranty...

We bought a cpo 2007 rx400h 46k miles, fully loaded, 2wd about a month ago in Texas, selling price $29,888 saleman would not bargain at all, only gave me 4 free oil changes. Now gas price is getting higher, if u like it, get it asap. It's a great suv and I still amazing how quiet when it's start and stop and the mpg is great compare to same size suv.

We are going to get a Bluetooth bluefusion to stream music from our iPhone, hopefully will work.

thanks for the info, the best offer I got today was 30500 for the car I was after. I made a second offer of $29000, but he declined...I may have lost it...oh well tomorrow is another day.

Seems like a reasonable offer. Hope you find another 400h. We really like ours, the service is getting pricey as the car is accumulating miles...but that is any Lexus for ya.

Just announced on other site found one at Carmax for $5000 less...same equipment except higher mileage, but it was a 2008...ONly difference was the HIDS which are not the tracking ones...they are fixed...Still had Mark levinson, and everything else. Actually the seats were in better condition than the CPO car at the LExus dealership...So We join the hybrid ranks. OUr RX300 will be up for sale... Last call from Lexus dealership they had come down $500 more, but we told them we were on the way to Carmax to check out a cheaper, newer RX400h...Their lost, my gain...Looking forward to learning the new machine.
