Default DVD playback

To my suprise I have noticed that Navigation unit doesn't play DVDs. In manual it has that capibility. Was anyone able to play a movie? Maybe I have a different version of software.

My 08 GS350 plays all of them without problem. I could hear the audio even when driving. To see the video I had to apply the hand break.

I believe DVD playback is only possible with the Mark Levinson audio.

The ML upgrade includes a six disc DVD changer instead of the standard CD changer.

I have played DVD's on mine with no problems.

too bad. Don't care about playing videos, but would like to use DVDs to store MP3s on.

Is there a way to store MP3s on the hard drive? I couldn't find it yet, but seems there is a lot wasted space as Nav doesn't take more than 10gb.

Please check which Nav did you have, only the Mark Levinson package can play DVD.

To play movie, car must be in P and parking brake has to be on (unless you hack the system)

I tried to play a DVD on mine, but there was just a blue screen with audio. I didn't apply the parking brake, just had the car in P. Does the DVD region code/zoning matter? I'll try again when I have time.

Once you apply the parking brake the blue screen will go away and the video will play on your NAV screen.

U can't load your sound into the hard drive, at least the the US model.

And, the Nav is not small size, I believe it is more than 10GB, since the Gen 5 9.1 DVD is already around 8.4GB and it still missing a lot of stuff because of the limitation of DVD-DL.
