Def do the inner and out on the same side and I would recommend just getting both sides done while your truck is at the shop. Not that I need to tell you this, but rubber breaks down over time and chances are the other side is not far behind.

Hey Chris. The reason they suggest replacing the axle is the labor involved in doing the boots. The axles are pretty cheap, but I know the OEM axle has to be better than the aftermarket ones. I'm going to ask a few other shops for prices to change the boots. The one I use wanted almost the same amount to replace the boots as to replace the axles.
