I am a little confused as to when to use this feature. Can anyone help? Thanks,

You turn it off if you're lifting your GX by the frame causing your axle to droop. And from how I understand it you only need to turn it off when your GX is running. If it's not running the ride height will not work so turning it off does nothing.

What he said, but i would shut it off before hand even if the car is going to jacked up with the engine off, as mine still will lower itself a bit when i get out of the car.

Personally I'd rather it be lower than higher since the axle will be drooping less when lifted by the frame. The more the axle droops the more chance that the airbag pin(s) will pop out of their lower brackets, so the lower the GX is on the ground before lifting the better.

It would be nice to be able to turn it off, and keep it off until you need it to save wear and tear.

EDIT: Never mind, it turns back on once you hit 20mph.
