What do you think?
I am thinking of buying a 2004 GX470 with 41,000 miles on it. The car is white/tan leather, has the NAV/Rear Camera, etc. Its also pretty clean. Is $24,000 too much for it? They won't go below 24K.
Thanks

Hard to say without seeing the vehicle or knowing what it needs, but if it's the same condition as my 2005 which has 42k mi on it, it sounds like a good deal to me. Are you buying it from Lexus and is it Certified?
Go on autotrader.com and do a search see what 2004 and 2005's are selling for with the same amount of miles, that will be your litmus test.

I Got this one exactly one month ago. It had 72,000 though.
I paid 18K for it. She was asking 20k.
You just never know what one will sell for.
I dickered with her, treating like it was a used Chev Suburban, not a GX.

I would say mileage is more a factor than the year...and that's pretty low for a 2004. Not a bad deal imo.
Wait for the re-design in a few months and you'll probably save a few thousand on any of them.

My brother is in the car business, and I got it with his help. He said the demand for the GX470 has went up tremendously in the last 6 months. I wanted to buy a 2006, but these are going for over 30K wholesale. Apparently the used car market is up as the demand for used cars in general has increased recently. I bought it, so I should it get it sometime tomorrow I hope.

What is the deal with used cars not having the gear shift handle? I am too looking for either a GX or LX and I come across pictures on line of some without the handle. Since your brother is in the business, what does he say is the reason?
Regardless looks like a SWEET ride. Looking for the same deal, low miles and low price.
A friend is also in the business and he said the same, GX prices have risen over the past 6 months. He said used cars are selling better then new because of the better value and there is actually a shortage of them as people are not trading in for new cars because many are not buying right now. My search has been on for a few months with his help and nothing has come up.

Cobra2Top,
I too noticed the lack of a gearshift **** on some of the GX's that dealers sell.
My guess is that they take them off for security reasons. It's an item that can easily be taken out and resold. I may be wrong, but I remember the early Celica GT's and Supra's had a leather shift **** on the manual, and they were just ripe for the snatching, so the dealers would take them off, and remount them once the car sold.

Well said on the used cars. I have seen the same thing occur down here in South Florida, where we have been hit hard by the bad economy. At one point we were looking at possibly in the near future a 2003 GX470, but were holding on to my girlfriend's 1999 Ford Expedition and doing the needed work on it, as the prices just haven't come down enough.
That is a good price for a 2004.

They take out the gear shift handle so people won't steal them Apparently they are hot item!! I do have the shift handle, the pictures were taken when they had the handle removed.

When we purchased the GX last year, gas prices were really high and people were shunning SUVs, so we were able to haggle 10K off of the purchase price. I noticed that all of the Lexus cars at the autoshow had the shift ***** removed. I think people like to steal them. I can see this being a problem with manual transmissions, as the ***** are being handled more. On an automatic they are rarely touched and therefore less prone to wear.
