Want the new GX, but not the tail lights

If you're going to lease it, it may be worth it to not even bother doing anything to the taillights. But if you must, vinyl is a good option as it is not permanent. The only downside is the longevity vinyl lacks. I, too, am not a fan of the '14 tails although I do believe they work pretty well with Knight Armor Pearl.
I prefer the red and white tails and will eventually swap them with my '14 ones once I find a used set in mint condition and reasonably priced. They should be a direct pnp since Sewell sells the '14 tails as an 'upgrade' for the previous years.

i checked a while back, part is definitely interchangeable.
just remove the 2 screws on back of housing inside rear door, and the front of the tail light has a tab that inserts into the sheet metal. It pulls right out.
the new clear tail lights go well with white and silver, but not so if you have a dark color
