Default Another Key Question?!

Sorry everyone, newbie and new owner here. I searched and read all the related key question posts and I'm still confused. All I need is the electronic guts. Apparently, it looks like it was dropped in water from all the rust and whatnot. It's a pain not being able to unlock my doors with the key The key/shell is fine. I also have the credit card key as well. Can I just replace the electronic guts? I found the "transmitter assembly (8900-60801) for about $114 from the dealer. Can I just buy that and have a locksmith cut and program? Or I can try to program myself. Thanks in advance!

You can definitely just replace the guts but I don't know if anyone but the dealer can program the key for you.

Assuming your current key is the master and still works to start the car, 1010keys on Ebay sells replacement cut key fobs for ~$40 see this thread for programming:

so, I looked on ebay and found 2 similar keys. One is $40.99 (MPN: LEX-03-C) http://www.ebay.com/itm/162379222735 and the other is $48.69 (MPN: LEX-03-P) http://www.ebay.com/itm/152420345396. Which one should I be getting? Thanks!

Those are the correct keys. My guess is that you don't have the key code so you will need the second key ($48)

The difference is that for the cheaper one ($40) he requires a Key Code (which is basically a code that tells him how to cut the key). He still asks for a picture of the key I think to just double check it the key code you send him.
You could get it from the dealership by going there and providing proof of ownership. Or you can get it from the emergency flat key case if you have it that looks like this:

The second more expensive option ($48) is where you just take a picture of your current key with your phone as he describes towards the bottom of the Ebay page and then text it to him. He then figures out your Key Code based on the picture and cuts a new key for you.

Really you only need the electronic guts, not a new key. I looked around Ebay and cant seem to find the fob electronics by themselves. I only found a replacement internal button case that holds the electronics.

actually, I do have the credit card key with the key code so I'll try the cheaper one. Thanks for looking, I saw the internal button case as well. I can order a genuine key with transmitter for $115, but for 1/3 of that I'll try the eBay one I guess.
