Default Heated Seats

Does anyone know if the SEATBACKS as well as the seat bottoms are heated for the 03 GX470? I put the heater on, and can only feel the bottom heats up both driver and passenger, but not the back.

Thanks!

Nope I don't think Lexus have a back heater fuction. It's the same like the GS series where only the butts are heated. That's all you get, oh yeah for some reasons the heated seats on teh GX470 are not as warm as my GS400. Anyone else notice this issue?

I have also noticed that the GX's seats don't get very hot. I think both the bottom and back cushions are heated, just not very much. The seats don't get nearly as hot as many other cars I have been in.

Our 04 Sienna XLE Limited is bottom only and I think the GX is the same way...One thing I do like about these seats is that the heat won't cut off on you...I had an 03 E320 and it would gradually turn off after about 20 minutes, but it had back as well as bottom so it is really a push...

I can assure you that the backrest is heated too. I even confirmed it today.

Thanks for sharing your info folks. I just called my service guy @ Lexus and was told the back suppose to heat up too. So, I schedule a visit with them for next Wed to have them check it out. Will post more info after they looked at it.

Try wearing a t-shirt and you will feel the back but since your not really pressing against it like your butt it is harder to tell, but it does

Agreed. It is one of my minor disappointments with the GX. I love my Acura's seats, you really feel the heat and usually have to turn them down to low after awhile... great for those sore back days. But with the GX, I barely notice them being on. Once I left them on and didn't realize it until I was sitting at a light 20 minutes into my trip... and this was during an 80 degree day last week! My loaner RX330 felt more like my Acura, so it is not a Lexus thing... just seems to be a GX thing (which is becoming a recurring theme).

I did notice that the RX330 just had a high/low switch like my Acura, while the GX seems to be a rheostat. So I wonder if the heating element is not the problem and the rheostat just need to be tweaked to go higher. Any electrical people out there experiment with this yet?

Those rheostats are pains, eh? My Jetta's heated seats have a rheostat labeled 0-5. To me, 0-4 are off (can't feel anything) and 5 is burning hot, which actually feels really good. The GX, regardless which setting it's on, doesn't get very hot.

just seems to be a GX thing (which is becoming a recurring theme).
LOL

Hey

My Lower seat heates up pretty good and i end up turning the rheostat to a lower setting... my back does heat up but is not satisfactory..... i'm assuming there's a way for people to increase the heat in the back... but has to be done by the dealer.
is there anyway to get ur rear seats heat up as well (aftermarket, i mean).

Yeah, it doesn't get real hot. I think it's fine, but my wife doesn't care for it. Our BMW X5 will burn you out of the seat after a few minutes on high. That's a little extreme, but I could see its usefulness if you were wearing a big coat or something. They should tweak it on the GX.

personally i would have my seats checked out if they didn't get warm.

on max i can feel the lumbar heat through my leather jacket! i always keep my seat all the way up (typical female, always cold).
