Transmission fluid change
I have 92K miles on my 2008 GS 350.
Never have had this service completed.
Is it time now that I am approaching 100K miles?
Should I expect approx $300 charge at the Lexus dealership?

read this Blackstone lab report on his tranny fluid. I would say 80,000 miles is the time to do it. you are definitely ready. $200-$300 seems like going rate

I'm not sure about the 3GS, but on most cars it's recommended to change the tranny fluid at 60k miles and then every 30k after that. I would definitely go ahead and change it out. Not sure how much the dealer will charge, but doing a drain and fill yourself isn't too difficult. If the diff fluid has never been changed I would go ahead and replace that too personally.

These cars have WS fluid and claim it is life time. A drain and fill is not easy on these cars as the WS fluid expands as heated. The top off procedure is rather difficult unless you just measure what came out and put that back in assuming the original level was correct

I did it at 55,000 miles and again at 70... bought it at 55 5 years ago and it has 70 now.

That's the part that's difficult. I had a tech at a very reputable shop tell me that he has done follow up check and one of the biggest mistake that people and some shops as well don't make sure the car is level during the fill and check part.

I questioned my Lexus service advisor on this. Here is his reply:
Lexus never suggests a transmission fluid change - it's for lifetime. It's really up to the customer. However, we do recommend a rear diff fluid change for $130.
What do you guys think on his reply? And what exactly is rear diff fluid change compared to tranny fluid change?
