Be very careful about Rolling and even cutting your fender liner/trim.
Rolling- Fairly easy. But if you notice throughout the metal liner. there are 4-5 tabs that you plastic liner attaches too. This can create 4 creases where those are located. I go to a guy name Tony over here in SoCal and he explained how many GS owners do this and find themselves rolling over 4-5 welds and it comes out all hacked up w/ 4-5 creases every few inches.
now cutting the metal liner/tab - Make sure you find someone that knows what he's doing and doesn't cut too much. If cut improperly and god forbid your fenders buckle. The quarter panel will actually split. My car is currently at a friends shop and saw my rear QP almost splitting right down the middle.

Mistahoo that graphic you did up was outstanding. I have heard about shaving but never knew what it meant. The flares are hardcore and yes, I do know what you mean now that I think about it on the Z's. My Porsche 944 turbo (R.I.P.) had huge fender flares from the factory. I had either 10" or 10.5" wide tires in the back on BBS rims.
