My 05 avalon 3.5l had this same problems. My 07 gs350 so far has not. Unfortunately kind of common on 3.5l

I just got back from a routine oil change and they had told me that while they were doing the oil change they noticed that there was a leak coming from the timing cover area. I have a 2010 GS350 and the last thing I had done for the car was the VVTI recall. It sounds like this could be the cause of the issue. Am I right? Does anyone know if this would be covered under the Drivetrain warranty which is 6 years or 70,000 miles. Also I figure if they do need to take out the engine to fix this, what else should I have them do while I have the car in the shop? I haven't had anything else replaced on the car so I figure this might be a good time to replace other things that will be coming up.

They remove the passenger side valve cover. The bottom of the valve cover meets the top of the timing chain cover and they should have used FIPG to seal this join. I may have a similar issue. Been keeping an eye on it.

i gave my GS450h to my bro a year ago and he took it in for oil change and they told him the timing chain cover is failing too

Thanks for the reply. Turns out robot didnt put enough liquid gasket on timing cover at factory. Very common for this engine. To reseal it requires lifting the engine.

GS 300. 169000 miles. I don’t really want to repair for $3000 or buy a new one. I only drive about 4000 miles a year. Could I use some kind of oil sealant additive? Such as AT-.205
or something else.

You can try a product called blue devil oil sealer, also I would change the oil more often at 3,000k miles

Form in gasket installed by a robot is a major issue for all manufacturers. I see it every day. That being said Toyota 3.5L has a big issue with this. Avalon and sometimes the gs350
