Joy and pain in 3 weeks
Hello all! After lurking in the shadows of this forum for many years, I have finally joined.
So 3 weeks ago, after searching for 2 months, I found a silver/black '08 GS 350 AWD with 33,750 miles on it. Exactly what I was looking for. The original owner was a retired airline mechanic and was moving to Thailand with his wife. The car was immaculate, pampered and well maintained. All service performed at Lexus in Alaska or Portland (Owner originally lived in AK).
As a result of my purchase I was handing down my 2000 ES300, which I had for the last 9 years, to my recently licensed 16 y.o. daughter. At 192k miles, it still ran beautifully and was in really good (but not great) shape. This was her first car and giving it to her had been my plan for the last 2 years. Well, 5 days after she has the car, some drunk guy side swipes her up on Queen Anne Hill (Seattle area). I am still waiting to hear back from the other guy's insurance company (State Farm) if they are going to total it or fix it.
Then today, as I'm making a left turn at an intersection, I stop to allow a woman to walk through the cross walk and the girl behind me rear ends me. She gives me her info and she too is a State Farm client. State Farm is gonna think I am running a scam or insurance fraud on them.
Oh well. After all, these are just cars and no one was injured. Life goes on!

Glad you are both ok.
Cars can be fixed fixed easier than humans. A new bumper and you're good to go. But whiplash induced from an accident takes a whole lot more to mend.
