Default Rusting Brake Drums (or Metal Cover)

Reaching out to GS folks who may be encountering similar problem. I have a 2006 GS430 in which the rear brake drums? (or outer metal cover) has rusted. I have the OEM Lexus wheels and the problem is it is very noticeable and from an appearance standpoint is "ugly" to look at.

Does anyone know if this part can be replaced and if so what the expense is? I would think you would be able to powder coat the part as well, but seems this would be a hassle to do.

Any feedback and/or suggestions would be great. Thanks

Everything can be replace. Pics would help.

DW40 is your answer. Just give it a bit more breaking distance when you do drive.

Worker - Thanks! I can take a picture and include it. It's on both rear brakes. Sounds like a solution may be to remove the tires and just clean them off? Maybe use steel wool and apply WD40? thanks

if its on the brakes, its probably just a little surface rust staining like you get on your rotors after the car has sat during a rain.

DO NOT USE WD40 on your brakes. It can contaminate the brake pads and lead to brake failure.
New rotors... and pads solve it. It is basically a brake job to do it right. Good rotors with a coating on the hats, like OEM or Adam's Rotors. Adams will coat the hats properly and it lasts. More than a few friends of mine with GTIs had them with good results.

scuff them up and paint them if they look bad, you could use a color that matches the factories coating.

The proper way is to take them off and send them to get anodized coated.
