Default rattling noise at start up

How many of you guys have had this rattling/clattering noise at start up? Mine is starting to become more and more common :/ (54k miles) Should I have the dealership fix it?

I had this same problem recently. I took it in for my 60k service a few weeks ago and left it overnight and they heard the noise also. I was told that it was two gears that were loose. They fixed it under warranty and I have not heard it since. I recommend taking it in and leaving it overnight so they are able to duplicate the sound. Hope this helps

Default Rattle at Start-up

I just had mine fixed at my local dealer. I used my iPhone to record the clatter so the service people could hear it just in case. But they knew what i was talking about, so it's common. They told me it is the VVTi gears need replacing, but it doesn't effect how the car drives or how the engine performs. They said it's more of an annoyance than anything. Now, I don't know if that's true as I'm no Lexus technician. Service department took two full days to fix it.

Here's something else, though. My clatter started eight weeks ago, only after owning my 2007 GS for three weeks. Six weeks ago, my dad told me to stop by his place so he could show me something he's been using in the engine of his 1997 Toyota Avalon for twelve years: Motorkote. His 1997 Avalon has 385,000 miles (from driving 100 miles a day or so for ten years), and he puts a small amount in the engine after every oil change. So, I poured some in my oil. One week later (five weeks ago), the clatter in my GS stopped and never came back.

I chose to get it fixed because I wanted to. I can't say for certain that Motorkote worked and solved the problem. Maybe it won't happen to everyone, but it happened with me. You can see Motorkote reviews on Amazon.com and go from there.

The clatter is annoying and embarrassing, especially for the kind of car the GS is. Good luck with whatever you do.

I would bring it back and have them reanalyze it. Could have returned!

i dont think the valve spring recall had anything to do with the clattering noise....I think the clattering has to do with the cams.... someone correct me if im wrong.

My car has only 23k miles and I have this noise at start up as well. However, it does not happen too often, so I was not able to record it still. I know without any proof dealer won't even bother fixing the car

Btw, the valve spring recall was done 2 years ago...

I noticed my vehicle did it twice, once when the oil needed changing and when my oil was low on the dip stick. I changed the oil with 5w20 oil it didn`t do it again until I was low on oil. No I do not have a oil leak it just uses about 1 quart of oil every 2500 miles

Burning 1QT of oil every 2500 miles is a lot.

My own cars doing this on start up, then goes away and car drives normally.

69000 miles.

Any ideas on what this could be or if its something to worry about for future?

Check with your dealer to see if the iVVT gears have been replaced...there is a TSB for that...

Hi all, like to share my exp with my 2023 NX350h just picked up last Friday. I have an iPhone 13 pro with a Spigen Mag Armor case with Magnet integrated, amazon link:
Amazon Amazon
.

Yes, the charging is not stable, if I just simply put my phone on the pad. But if I put my phone to the center of the charging pad along driving directions, and push it to one end of the charging pad, most of time to the driver side, the wireless charging works pretty stable. I managed to charge my phone from about 40% to 90% during my 2 hours driving from dealer to home.

I have another work phone, an iPhone 13 with a Blu Element phone case without Magnet integrated, I will give it a try next week when I'm going to office, and update you guys the results.
