IMHO, GS is a pretty strong car. Just look at the damage it did, and then look at the GS... What's strange is that the airbags in the GS did not deploy. There is a picture of a woman sitting behind the wheel, I did not want to post it here. Could be someone's wife or a gf, who knows
try a current e class and that will be a good comparison.
i am glad the airbag didn't deploy. the front end of the car is still pretty intact, so i guess that's why the computer decided that the airbag can stay
the reason the airbags didnt go off is that because it wasnt a strong enough hit, the airbag sensors are located on the frame rail. The impact wasnt strong enough to hit the frame rail.
.....And that right there disproves any claims about "they don't build them like they used to"
That Lemans put up as much resistance as a tuna can would have, and the GS might even get away without any frame damage.
