There is no aftermarket sub+amp with stock headunit install thread
Just as it states..
I've searched for probably 4+ hours and 50+ pages.
I'm very curious as to why there isn't a single thread how to safely install an aftermarket amp and Sub while retaining your factory head unit?
does anyone have any good solid information with pictures? If not then I can't wait to supply this website with information that should be abundant and here 18 years ago.
Thanks.

You need a LOC (line output converter), a power wire ran from under the hood to the trunk, a trigger source from where ever to the trunk, and a ground wire. It's a very easy install. Tap the factory subwoofers wires for the LOC. Connect the LOC to the amp, amp to power/ground/trigger and sub. Done. This is basically the same as on every other car.
This mod is so old most of the threads on it have had all their pictures lost to time. Search the 2GS forum for "LOC", "add subwoofer", "free air", and "Infinate Baffle." The last two may not be the way you want to install it but they may have useful information on the LOC and install.

BINGO! THATS whaaaaaaat is needed, a LOC, simple as hell to install. If I can get some time perhaps I'll rewrite that thread, for when I wanted to replace everything those pictures were missing from that thread then too hahaha.
You wire the LOC from the stock sub, which is what will give the amp you install it's signal pretty much...
