New to the jdm scene...
Hey guys. I'm A Brand new owner of a second Gen lexus gs 300. Previous car was an 01 mustang gt vert. Got rid of it to move. Bought this car a few days ago. Absolutely fell in love with the car when I bought it. It's a 2001. Just joining to get ideas and insight on what to expect with this thing.

Lol, not the greeting i was expecting. Guess i got my information mixed up with toyota being the parent company and being based in japan, and japan having their version, the aristo, and most parts originating in japan. But ill play along, my car is USDM and not full of rice. Lol. Will get some pics up soon though, having it painted this weekend, previous owner was not a delicate driver. Just want some thoughts on rims, fog light colors, and na-t converstions basics.

Welcome! Some guys get hung up on the term JDM since there's all kinds of tacky eBay garbage being labeled "JDM". As the GS has gotten cheaper and younger people are buying them we see a lot more owners who could be stereotyped as the "Honda" kids.
There's a ton of info here and some very knowledgeable, helpful members. The stickies at the top of the page will give you a good start on getting to know the car, and the advanced search can be very useful if you can be specific and weed through the 17 years of information and discussion.
The GS is still a great platform, hope you enjoy it and that CL can help with that!

I don't blame them for their distrust. I've seen some pretty tacky work done to quite a few lexus models from around this time period, any where from sc3's raised and put on 24' rims to gs400 owners trying to convince people that their 1uz is better than any ls on the market. Its rather heart breaking
