Default Radio issue, HAAALLLPPP!

Hey Guys

So the screen on my radio doesn't work and I tried to replace the unit with one that I bought on ebay from a guy who's on here as well, but there's a few problems:

1) apparently (I should have known) you can't just swap a Nakamichi deck in place of the normal one... which is what I tried to do. There's unused plugs on the Nakamichi which I'm assuming is for all the things that my car wasn't installed with?

2) When I disconnected the Nakamichi to put back in the original stock deck (with broken screen) the radio no longer turns on...

Is there some sort of anti-theft reset that I need to do? Also, has anyone successfully swapped the basic head unit for the Nakamichi one?

HALLLLPPPP

thanks guys

I couldnt find the basic gs400 radio in a reasonable price so I bought the Nakamichi one that I saw for a good price with hopes it would plug in the same. all 4 plugs from the one I have fit the Nakamichi one, but there's 2 more extra sockets on the Nakamichi that have nothing plugged in, which is probably why it doesnt work. :/

I was hoping someone on here would shed some light on going from the basic deck to the Nakamichi deck

The plugs on the radio (that fit), while physically the same, are wired differently. You probably blew a fuse when you plugged it in.

I figured they were probably different :/

I checked both radio fuses on the driver's side as well as under the hood and neither are blown

I challenge you to find the answer then since I've been searching the forums for the past 4 hours. Not my first day on the internet, mr norris.

Double check the fuses, sometimes they don't blow where you can see it without pulling the fuse out. It is also conceivable that you fried the amp.

I pulled out every single fuse in the interior of the car and found one of the door fuses fried?

Weird. regardless I changed it and the original stereo works now. So I'm back to square one. I'll ask around stereo shops and call lexus tomorrow to see if there's a way to make the Nakamichi work in place of the other one or if there's an adapter harness. If not, whatever I basically got the Nakamichi for free so I'll sell it for what ebay is averaging and just look for one the same as mine
