Can this be powder coated?
Ok, so here's the deal. I have mild steel intercooler piping that I started to polish up to a mirror-like finish. I want to essentially "lock in" the polished look so I am looking for some type of coating or sealant. Now, I read in some places that there is such a thing as clear powder coating. And I also read in some places that powder coating is possible on smooth surfaces, such as polished mild steel. Can this be done? I really dont want to powder coat a color...i love the polished look under the hood. Any advice?

Yes it is possible to put powder coat on a smooth polished surface to keep from having to polish it afterwards. And yes they make 100% gloss clear in powder..
It does bring the durability down slightly with a polished surface but people do it on chrome or polished wheels with no problem so I can't imagine you having any issues intercooler piping.
I own a paint/powder coat shop so if you have any questions feel free to pm me. Goodluck.
