1999 GS300 Fuel Problems
Quick intro: My name is John and I live in San Antonio, Tx. I have had my 1999 GS300 for about a year and absolutely love it. I just found the forums here because I am having a little trouble that I cant seem to figure out. (I am no mechanic by any stretch of the imagination.. lol)
When my car gets to about 1/4 of a tank left it begins to act like it is out of gas and it wont run. It also sometimes will hesitate while driving. This usually only happens about once per full tank of fuel. My car has 160k on it and there is no check engine light on.
I recently took a 2200 mile trip moving from Seattle to San Antonio. I changed the oil (mobil 1 synthetic) and air filter. I also ran a Lucas Complete Fuel Treatment through several full tanks of gas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. This seems like a great site and I am glad I found it.

Fuel pumps tend to work harder when running low on fuel, in tank pumps keep themselves cool by being immersed in fuel. Low fuel = pump working overtime. A bad fuel filter (bladder filter) around the pump inlet when clogged can cause a pump to work even harder. Compound the problems and you'll be needing a pump, no big deal. I think you can access the pump from beneath the rear seat.
I'm sure this isn't the first fuel pump issue in these forums, do a little reading and search for a DIY FP install.

Already know that
I know that much I have been doing that for 6 years now with my GS. I want to know how to fix the problem so I can use the five gallons thats left in the tank when it gets to 1/4 of a tank
