Default To disable telescopic steering wheel feature.

Hello Group,

I'm wondering if there is a way to disable the automatic telescopic positioining feature on my 1999 GS300? The manual says go to the Dealer to have this feature disabled. I do not want the wear and tear of the motor to fail from the constant use. It's a very nice feature, but I can do without for now.
Thanks in advance for your response.

I am interested in this too. How much wear and tear is being put on this? Has anyone had the motor gone bad on them?

Curt,

To turn off the feature you need to go to the dealer and have them turn it off in the CBES System. They should do it at n/c. Takes 2 minutes.

why would you want to disable that? it was meant/designed for it.. why not leave it the way it is?

I could only see one good reason to disable it. If you have one drivers memory button set for someone really big and the other one for someone really small. Then if the big guy hit the wrong button it might turn into a garbage compactor. Ouch!
